“ARCHIVE 1” is the first part of an ongoing artistic endeavor which delves into the intricacies of memory and the complexities of familial relationships, investigating the ways in which family traditions can shape and mold our understanding of the past.
Lucia Russo Thomson and Anie Maki pose the question of what do we expect from our family images.
Do we expect them to be a reflection of a happy and idyllic past?
Or do they hold the potential to unveil the complexities and secrets of our family history?
The artists translate these newfound revelations into an ongoing series of sculptures, each one born from a rollfilm and elaborating these found childhood memories.
This work has been presented by Slug Area in “AS FRAGILE AS A BOMB”, group exhibition curated by Kenny Alexander Lawrence and Lucia Russo Thomson in collaboration with Lewisham Arthouse, London.
